Hello everybody! My name is Christine Beck and I am 24 years old. I am half Swiss half Italian and I am currently studying at the Rotterdam Business School. On the 23rd of July, I started my internship with Sunium and I am extremely excited about what is to come.
I studied Law at the University of Zurich. After that I was elected to join the International Board of the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) where I was responsible for organising Moot Court Competitions in collaboration with the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Council of Europe as well as the European Court of Human Rights. As part of this role, I coordinated projects all around the world, spanning from Singapore to Colombia, Europe and South Africa. Through this experience I learned to work in a multicultural environment. I enjoyed the work I did so much that I decided to pursue a study in International Business and Management. That is how I ended up at the Rotterdam Business School. As part of my curriculum, I chose to pursue an internship which enables me to gain even more experience in an international environment. When I was thinking what I would like to do, I immediately thought of project management, but I did not want to limit myself on that area only. Being part of a startup gives me the incredible opportunity to engage on several fronts and support the growth of an organisation which fits perfectly with my interests in entrepreneurship, project management and business strategy. When I heard about Sunium and the work they do I was immediately fascinated. Not only can I connect the areas of project management and business but I can stand with great pleasure behind the companies’ mission and vision. I truly believe in Sunium’s vision of an open and informed society and participatory democracy. Their multistakeholder approach to conflict resolution is exactly what I always envisioned to be the method which should be pursued in order to find a common solution. By using different methods like Systems Thinking, Cybernetics and Syntegration, Sunium tries to bring different stakeholders together in order to find a consensus. It is very important to me that I can identify myself with the work I do.
Sunium connects all of them.
My first task will be to co-organise the Sunium Symposium, where I will be responsible for speakers, sponsors and partners outreach as well as the logistics. After that I will be supporting Sunium at different conferences. We will participate at the Cybersecurity week in The Hague, the 10th Congress of the European Union for Systemics and hosting sessions at EuroPcom in Brussels and the Internet Governance Forum 2018 in Paris. Furthermore, I will support Sunium in organising their first winter course on SensiMod. If you would like to know more either about me or about the projects which we organise or the conferences we attend make sure to follow us! I will try to keep you up to date and to inform you about what is yet to come.
I am truly looking forward to work with Sunium and the team and I hope that you are too!
